Growing Up

Can you believe these two have entered the world of preschool? I sure can't. Tuesday was their day and it went well. They were excited, brave, talkative, and as cute as ever. Their teacher is amazing and they will have a great year, no doubt. I'm feeling a bit like an empty-nester or something. Strange to have so much down time in a quiet house. Strange and pretty darn lovely!!!

"Huh? We have to actually go learn something...and sit still?? Maybe this school thing isn't for me!"
These days when Cade gets excited, he acts like a monster. This was his initial reaction when he saw his buddy Emery. They talked about their cool backpacks and squealed with excitement. It was cute.
Love that face!

And this face too.

I wasn't feeling emotional. Had myself together. Then I read the poem sent home with all the Moms:
"The First Day"
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You've been with him for years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
I'll love him as I would my own
And help him learn and grow.
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass
And that one day it was my turn
To take my child to class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more
For I will love him and take him in
When you leave him at my door.

I was happy that they both decided to come home. Cade slept with his construction paper headband, aka fireman hat, that night.

A few other cute little things about these two. This last Sunday we were visitors in my sister's ward. In primary they asked the boys to come up and introduce themselves. They walked up and Cade eagerly said with his head tilted and his half smile, "I'm Cade and this is Carson and we are really big!" Carson then ran up around the podium and up to the mic as they sang to them. His heavy breathing in the mic was a nice touch.

Tonight at dinner it was Carson's turn to say prayer. When he paused for help, Cade jumped to his rescue. This is what he directed Carson to say: "Thank you for our bikes, and we want to eat our food by ourselves, and we want to play a long time and ride our bikes." At least he hit the most important things. :)

Carson took a long 3 hour nap today. He opened his door, walked out all squinty-eyed and disoriented and asked, "Am I 4 today?" They both have their birthday on the brain. Still have a while to wait little boys!

So many cute things coming out of their mouths everyday. I wish I didn't forget them so quickly. With these two at my side, life is good.

Happy Anniversary you 2! Crazy how time flies! I still remember your wedding :) Your anniversary post was cute. I love reading about your family. Ok, maybe I will blog now... You always make me want to.
Carter's first day of preschool was today, and I did cry...in the car, so I totally get that poem...how sweet! I'm sad to be by myself at home. He absolutely loved it though, the smile on his face when he it was over was priceless.
