Back in Business

As some of you know, I taught piano before having my boys. I haven't taught since. I am finally at a point where the thought of taking on some students doesn't completely overwhelm me. I have decided to dive back in! I am only going to be teaching two nights a week. I think that's about all I can handle. I'm excited. For the most part, it's a lot of fun and very rewarding. My student's will start with me right after Labor Day. I'm soaking in my evening time while I still have it. Wish me luck!

Wow that is exciting! I know how you feel. I am trying to start taking pics for people and I am just barely to the point that I think I could do it with two kids! So good Job! That is awesome!

That's fun! I bet you're very good at that. I taught one boy in Kansas, and I really enjoyed that. And he's still taking lessons and doing well, so I must have not screwed up too much! :)

Good luck and have fun!

How much do you charge for lessons because I have a piano and don't know how to play it (I took a year of lessons when I was a kid--and the piano was my mom's and I inherited it when she moved). It'd be fun to learn how to play and it'd be even more fun to have you for my teacher :)

yay! That is so great. I remember our fun days in piano pedagogy together, (and the recitals we planned together--ha ha!) your students will be in good hands! Did you get some referrals from Jake and Jamie? I heard they were moving and getting their students some new homes.

yeah! can I take from you? I really want to take lesson.
So do you have any tips on getting students in a new area? Also- what books do you teach from? I am not impressed with mine so I'm look around for what others like...for the first few years that is...not advanced student. ok that is enough questions. Good luck- you will be GREAt. lucky students.

Awesome! good job! You'll go from 2 to 10 in no time...that might be a good or bad thing. I've got 9 right now, and it's pretty good. I have to spread the lessons out though because my kids can't be good and quiet for that long, but that's ok. The best time for me, I've learned, is in the morning! Anyway, I'm sure you'll be a fun teacher and have all sorts of good ideas...so share :) Good luck with it! You'll be great!

Such an awesome job. I did it for a year and loved it- but I don't have a piano here so I can't anymore. Boo. Then again once my students pass level 1 they're already ahead of me, so maybe it's only fair.
But you, lady, would make a great teacher. You know all the technique and whatnot, so you're perfect!

awesome amy! With two kid though, I hope it won't be too hard adjusting in the beginning. I have a tentative stuttering client that might want therapy when she gets back from vacation but I am still not sure I want to do it. I like my freedom. But the money and academic thinking would be nice again too. I can't wait to hear how ti goes.

ooh, I'm with Katie. I have been wanting to take piano lessons for YEARS now... at least 5. It intimidates me though because I'm old. However I'm only getting older so there's no better time than now. How do you feel about teaching an oldie and do you have any openings? rates to please. Thanks! You do live in Twin right?
