One Down, Three To Go!

I'm getting started on my Christmas projects early this year! My Mom, as a young mother, made stockings for me & my siblings. I've always thought it cool that she took the time to make such cute, personalized stockings for each of us, but I never thought I would do it myself...seeing how I barely know how to thread a needle. So, my sister and I started feeling really ambitious after Christmas and convinced ourselves that we were totally capable of making the stockings. We proceeded to buy them...HALF price, of course, since it was right after Christmas. I think that's what sealed the deal right there. Anyway, I competely panicked when I got the kits for FOUR intricate stockings. I was honestly considering sending them right back. There was no way I was going to be able to do it. Well, here I am showing off my first COMPLETED, hand-stitched Christmas stocking! I'll admit it. I'm SUPER proud of myself! I started mine first. It is by far the easiest & least complicated of the four. And, if I ruined it, it wouldn't be the end of the world. I had a few bumps along the way but I'm still pleased with the end result. I've now started on Shane's. Hopefully by the time I get to the boys' stockings, I'll be a pro. I think it's safe to say that it has completely consumed me. It's been fun and I'm learning a lot! I'll post the others as I get them done.

Wow, so crafty, girl! Way to get an early early start! Hey, good to hear that Katie and you had fun watching Bachelor, and that I'm not the only lame one that gets all gitty watching it with girls and being totally absurd about all of it!

oooh good job!! I want to be crafty...I got a sewing machine but haven't taken it out of the box because now I need a desk to put it on.

Having these will be fun and will a special memory for the kids...I still love seeing my old stocking from childhood!

I am also glad to know I am not the only person to watch the Bachelor!!...I have missed quite a bit now and need to go back on the internet and watch.

That looks really nice. I really want to do stockings, too, but haven't been able to decide on what to do. You're smart to do it now. I don't think about it until the holidays come around and then it's too late! Way to go!

WOW! It looks awesome. I'd be proud too! I'm with Julie, I let my mom make most of our stockings. I just help here and there, so I'm way impressed that you're making it all by yourself!

Very impressive! My mom did the same thing and that's great to keep up the tradition. I've been looking for a hobby and doing stockings is such a great idea and something that you can actually use and will be special.

p.s. I'm obsessed with the bachelor and it's good to know I'm not the only one.
