Looking for a good book???

So, I have recently discovered a new love for reading. I have never been one to read much but I found myself desperate while down on bedrest. I spent most of my time reading and thoroughly enjoyed it. I find it so much more enjoyable than TV which again, is a surprise to me! Anyway, I have recently finished some good books and thought I might share in case you are looking for a good read.

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult: This is a really interesting story about two sisters that have more in common than they might have hoped. It is a little sad but really good too. Just a warning, there is a little language in it but not too bad. I really enjoyed it.

Fablehaven by Brandon Mull: This is a series comparable to Harry Potter...or so they say. I haven't read Harry Potter but am thinking I just might. I didn't think I would enjoy fantasy books but I love them. This is a really good fun series...currently with three books released. Easy, fun read for sure!!!

I am starting The Host today and am super excited. I will let you know what I think when I'm finished!!! I would love any other suggestions. I am always looking for good books to dive into! I am a new woman now that I have discovered reading!!!

Yay for discovering reading! I remember visiting you in the hospital and feeling like there was a huge void in your life from not reading Harry Potter..so get to it! And I will go get your recommendations! Hooray!

Brooke and I have been working on "The Forgotten Man" by Amity Shlaes. It is a look at the great depression from a different angle than what is generally taught in school. It is quite a bit different from what you have been reading, but provides some good insight into what we may be facing in the near future.

Amy!!! If you want to be addicted and get a hold of a series that you can't put down...READ HARRY POTTER!!!! Sooooo good and sooooo much fun!!

I am also reading quite a different book...it is called "Stolen Innocence" and is about a girl who grew up FLDS...it is a true story...she was on Oprah recently. This book isn't everyone's cup of tea...but it is intriguing to me that this polygamist sect lives out there and that this stuff is actually happening...I have enjoyed reading it and getting aglimpse at what their life is like...even if it is a bit disturbing.

I found your blog from Sara and Trents blog. A blog that's called LDS Fiction is doing a summer reading review. All you have to do is read and review some books and you could win some prizes. With your title "looking for a good book" I thought you might be interested. Check out their blog at http://ldsfiction2.blogspot.com/2008/05/summer-book-trek-2008-readysetread-sign.html

I just finished "the Host" I highly recommend it! It was different but good and don't go in comparing it to her other series... you can tell the author is the same though.

good luck!
